Masterbuilder shooting star Kyle McMillin has really combined the best of both worlds with this 1960 Ultra Relic: heavy aging with significant wear that gives this black Superstrat an appearance as if it had been used in the recording of Van Halen's first album, combined with a white pickguard and a roasted maple neck! What a classy vintage look! But the spec sheet reads as if you had a Suhr or Tom Anderson in front of you: Modern-C neck profile and 9.5"-12" compound radius, medium jumbo frets, tremolo with plug-in lever, two noiseless singlecoils and an EVH humbucker at the bridge. Accordingly, not only the handling - especially with the lacquer-free back of the neck - is simply phenomenal, but also the sound is a hum-free treat for all those who are looking for sawing rock boards and crystal-clear Strat sounds at the same time. Especially the humbucker delivers such authentic Van Halen sounds that you immediately float in seventh rock heaven, but the two single coils are also good for bluesy Clapton licks and pearly Mark Knopfler runs.
