Gibson Les Paul Custom Jimmy Page Signature (2008)

Jimmy Page acquired his "Black Beauty" with three pickups and a Bigsby tailpiece in the 1960s when he was in demand as a studio musician in London. It then accompanied him in his days as guitarist of the Yardbirds and also during the recording of the first two Led Zeppelin albums. Unfortunately the guitar was stolen in April 1970 at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport during a US tour. When Page spoke of this particular electric guitar in the decades that followed he referred to it as "the one that got away." Fortunately 45 years after it was stolen he got it back under mysterious circumstances in November 2015. In 2008 - back in the days when Jimmy's Paula was considered lost - the Gibson Custom Shop released a replica of this guitar in a strictly limited edition of just 500 copies worldwide. While they had to rely mostly on Jimmy's memory for the reconstruction they produced a meticulous recreation of the iconic instrument with some of the most innovative electronics ever to grace a Les Paul Custom. The result is this stunning "Black Beauty" with the Page-standard slim neck, Page Burstbucker pickups, gold Bigsby vibrato and an innovative six-position toggle switch that allows you to isolate the neck and bridge pickups or add the middle pickup in any combination. In the regular position the toggle works like a normal 2-pickup Les Paul switch: neck pickup, neck and bridge pickup, or bridge pickup. But if it is pushed to the other positions, you can choose between neck/mid, neck/mid/bridge and bridge/mid. In addition a push-pull control for treble allows the rear pickup to be split for Jimmy's traditional single-coil option. This icon of music history has been given the VOS treatment by the Gibson Custom Shop, giving it the patina of a gently aged vintage electric guitar. The Bigsby tailpiece and the rest of the gold hardware feature a suitably aged look. And how does this dream Paula sound? Just exactly how a rock god's guitar should sound: it smacks real nice and has a killer response, super tone and sustain without end to create all the classic rock sounds you associate with this instrument. If you love "Whole Lotta Love", "Heartbreaker", "Dazed and Confused" or "Good Times Bad Times", you should not miss this killer guitar, which we can offer you in top condition (including frets).
