“Duesenberg instruments are built for artists who don't want to be guided by their instrument.” This is what it says on the website of guitar manufacturer Duesenberg, which was founded in 1986 by Dieter Gölsdorf. His love of ingenious, technical constructions and bold designs is evident in all his electric guitars, which not only look stunning, but are also reliable companions with the best price-performance ratio for the adept musician. This is also the case with this Imperial D-Tron, an arch-top with curved sides and an F-hole. This semi-hollow has a soundmighty spruce top and a maple back, both arched and laminated. Furthermore, a one-piece maple neck with a comfortable D-profile, a sustain center block and a fingerboard made of Indian rosewood were installed. The other specs, which guarantee the very best playing characteristics, are a scale length of 650 mm, 42.5 mm nut width, 22 Jumbo frets and a 12” fingerboard radius. The top sound of this guitar is provided by D-Tron humbuckers, which produce precisely the distinctive sound associated with e.g. Chet Atkins or Brian Setzer. The relatively low-impedance coils sit in standard humbucker housings with the extremely thick Alnico magnet providing an excellent output with sparkling treble. The harmonious overall concept is rounded off with a smooth-running and extremely tuning stable Duesenberg Deluxe tremolo. ...and there's probably not much need to say about the look of this beauty! Great finish in gloss black, which in combination with the cream-colored binding and the chrome hardware simply offers a stunning appearance: classic, noble and with the right nuance of understatement! Once again it is clear that Duesenberg approach their model design with a great deal of experience gained through exchanges with a wide variety of musicians. Everything here is very well thought out and the guitars are so well built that they seem “indestructible” even on tour under difficult weather conditions. ...and all this at a top price! Apart from minor signs of use, which are largely unavoidable on a black guitar, and slight traces of play on the frets, this extremely rare Imperial D-Tron, which was only available for a short time and has been highly sought after ever since, comes to its future owner in very good condition.
