David Brown, one of the “new guard” of masterbuilders at the Fender Custom Shop, has created an instrument that can only be described as magnificent. Its weight of just 2770 grams is incredible even for a hardtail! You really have to let that number sink in: a Stratocaster weighing well under 3 kg! That's something you don't see very often. In addition, this Strat of course comes with the characteristic hardtail advantage of extra sustain, attack, and tone. ...and this advantage is enormous here. The guitar can only be described as a reference hardtail, blessed with fabulous resonance and wonderfully bony and woody with great substance, making it really fun to play even dry. And the pickup combination used with “Handwound 57” at the neck and in the middle (including RWRP noise suppression) and “Handwound Fat 50's” at the bridge is a sonic revelation: every nuance of the phenomenal dry sound is transmitted to the amp with great transparency. Percussive, bell-like, funky, full-bodied – this Strat has it all! This superb package is rounded off with a 9.5“ radius, ”57 Style Soft V" profile, unvarnished neck back and the proven 6105 Narrow/Tall frets, which in combination with the absolute top weight ensure the very best playability. And of course this harmonious package also includes a fantastic finish. David Brown has opted for “Faded/Aged 2-Tone Sunburst” with wonderfully authentic Heavy Relicing that only a few masterbuilders can achieve. In addition to numerous small and large quirks and a slightly matted vintage patina David has applied the wafer-thin finish in such a way that the structure of the wood is exposed in a super attractive way. An absolutely harmonious overall package, masterfully executed! Not only visually beautiful, but also a tactile treat. So it's no surprise that David proudly presented this Stratocaster with the special serial number 100 on his own Instagram account (see picture 20), which of course further enhances the exclusivity of the guitar.
