When you get your hands on a limited edition Wildwood 10 Fender, you always get a guitar with specs you won't find anywhere else. This 59 Relic from the hands of masterbuilder legend John Cruz is also a normal relic Strat only at first glance. At a second look connoisseurs of the subject will notice that the combination of three-ply mint pickguard and mapleneck has no direct historical model. A look at the spec sheet reveals that this is not the only special feature. This guitar's special Wildwood specs include a faded two-tone sunburst, an extra-thin finish, a 10" fingerboard radius on a nicely beefy 10/56 V-neck and special handwound John Cruz "Masterdesign Ltd." pickups. In addition, attention was paid to light weight and an "aged tint" on the quartersawn maple neck. The result is simply sensational, both visually and sonically. The neck plays like a dream thanks to the more modern fretboard radius and the special pickups deliver a tone that is fabulously good even by John Cruz standards. Here the attack and percussiveness of a maple neck Strat is paired with the warmth and richness more commonly associated with 60s Strats. Together with the terrific resonance behavior you really float here in seventh Strat heaven. An absolute dream guitar for those who want the best of 50s, 60s and modern playing comfort.
