John Cruz - the legendary masterbuilder who sadly left the Fender Custom Shop in 2020! Every time you get your hands on one of his now extremely rare guitars, you are fascinated by the wealth of detail in his aging, the tonal power of his instruments and his phenomenal guitar building skills. This is also the case with this '62 Strat with its beautiful “Vintage Blonde” finish and perfectly authentic relicing. As soon as you open the case you can feel the characteristic Cruz mojo! The fantastic color of the ash body, the elegant tortoise pickguard, the aged pickup caps and the deep dark fingerboard made of Indian rosewood, ...everything just fits visually! The first thing you notice when playing the guitar is the incredibly comfortable neck, which plays like butter with its “60 Style Oval C” profile, the 9.5" fingerboard radius and the awesome 6100 Jumbo frets (.875-.950''). The guitar is wonderfully loud and resonant, vibrating at its very best. The pickups used here are the best of the best: “John Cruz Bone Tones”, handwound by none other than Josefina Campos. Whether clean, distorted or high-gain, it's fun to savor every tone. Not only does it cover all the classic Strat sounds in top form, it also provides rich, warm, but always transparent and bell-like vintage 60s sounds par excellence. All in all, an optimal blend of the best vintage tone and ultra-modern handling as we know and love from Master Cruz. No matter in which position, the guitar always has more than enough tonal substance. Together with the lively and vibrant basic character of the instrument you get the very best Strat sounds here! To expand the sound spectrum even further Cruz has also installed a blend pot that allows you to blend continuously between the bridge and neck pickups. So Tele friends will also get their money's worth here. And as a special treat there is a personal dedication to the first owner of the guitar with Cruz's original signature on the back of the rear cover plate.
