Fender Stratocaster Clapton Antigua Crossroads & ’57 Twin Amp Package (2007)

While Eric Clapton was still seen playing an ES-335 or a Les Paul in the 1960s his main companions throughout his musical history were Fender Stratocaster guitars like "Brownie" and "Blackie". Shortly after founding the Custom Shop Fender then introduced the first ever signature guitar, the Eric Clapton Stratocaster. And after Clapton had sent his original guitars into well-deserved retirement in later years it was masterbuilder Todd Krause and Mark Kendrick in particular who built his instruments for him, such as the gold leaf-covered Goldleaf Strat. Just as Clapton's musical career was characterized by ups and downs his private life was also marked by personal dramas and a long career with drugs and alcohol. After finally overcoming this addiction he set up the Antigua Crossroads Foundation to fund a rehabilitation facility. For the same worthy cause he presented numerous Blues and Rock artists for the first time in 2004 at the music festival of the same name and, as part of a sponsorship project with Fender, the "Eric Clapton Crossroads Antigua Stratocaster" was issued in 2007 in a limited edition of just 100 specimens. These were made by the best luthiers in the Custom Shop, only 50 of them were available as a "Premium Platinum Package" at an issue price of $30,000 with a "Crossroads Antigua Edition '57 Twin Amp", and the profits were donated in full to the "Crossroads Foundation". We are therefore extremely pleased to be able to offer you this "Premium Platinum Package" in collector's condition with all the original accessories. The guitar is contained in a "Crossroads Antigua" flight case and was built by Mark Kendrick according to the well-known Clapton specifications. The package also includes a Crossroads guitar strap, comprehensive documents and certificates, as well as a framed picture. As a special treat the Crossroads certificate and the amp are signed by Eric Clapton and the previous owner has also included a CD containing a live recording of the Crossroads Festival in Chicago on July 28, 2007, on which Clapton played such a "Crossroads Antigua" Stratocaster, which is also pictured on the back of the CD cover.
