Blackie – the black Stratocaster, Clapton's most-used guitar of his career – originated when Eric bought six new Strats in 1970, giving one to George Harrison, one to Steve Winwood and another to Pete Townshend. From the best parts of the other three (from 1956 and 1957) he had "Blackie" created, which he played from January 1973 to 1985, using it on legendary songs like "Cocaine," "I Shot the Sheriff," and "Lay Down Sally." Here we have another Teambuilt replica from 2023 with a sophisticated, deep black NOS (New Old Stock) finish and the characteristic, low-noise Vintage Noiseless pickups. Due to their weaker magnetic field these pickups offer slightly more sustain while producing a marginally higher and more balanced output signal. Furthermore, a midrange boost (0-25 dB) has been installed, allowing you to boost the Stratocaster's singlecoil sound towards a humbucker tone, giving the Strat incredible tonal versatility. True to the original the tremolo is blocked and the "Clapton V-Shape" neck profile is used in conjunction with Vintage Style frets, ensuring excellent playability. Even clean the guitar exhibits an extremely open, vibrant, sparkling and clear tone, ...and with each adjustment of the mid-boost control you can explore another sonic landscape from Clapton's decades-long musical journey.
