It should be well known by now that Vincent van Trigt has become the absolute shooting star of the Fender Custom Shop. And it is not surprising that Musikhaus Hermann in Biberach must have its fingers in the pie when it comes to very special, unique guitars for the European market. But what Jörg Hermann came up with in collaboration with Vincent van Trigt for this special order for his music store really goes beyond all standards: an exclusive Checkerboard pair consisting of a 1963 Stratocaster and a 1960 Telecaster, built as a one-off, in the super authentic heavy relic look with a wonderfully yellowed checkerboard pattern as a reminiscence of American car races of the 60s like the Indianapolis 500. Matching this a reliced black pickguard, vintage white pickups and poti knobs, as well as noble dark brown maple necks. What an incredible look! Not for nothing the corresponding Instagram post of the Fender Custom Shop received more likes than ever before.... But these fantastic instruments wouldn't be van Trigt masterbuilds, if he hadn't also focused on a fantastic sound and best playability. For example, on both guitars you're immediately pleased with the neck with a lacquer-free back, 60-style Oval-C profile and 9.5'' radius, which feels great in the hand and offers the best playing comfort in conjunction with the 0155 frets. The Stratocaster, which already shows a phenomenal vibration behavior when played dry, uses the proven mix of "Handwound 65" on the neck, "Handwound Fat 50s" in the middle and "Handwound Texas Special" on the bridge (the middle pickup also has Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity, which eliminates any hum in the intermediate positions). This pickup blend covers all the classic Strat sounds in phenomenal fashion. Earthy, expressive tone, optimal for perfect Blues and Rock sounds. For the Telecaster van Trigt takes a classic approach with "Handwound 63" pickups delivering the beloved traditional Tele sound at its best. Extremely twangy, tangy with ample mids, never shrill or garish, but superbly dynamic and transparent. These two dream guitars, which are in mint, virtually unplayed condition, offer in addition to all their other obvious advantages the highest rarity value and the associated appreciation potential. And not only do they look confusingly similar, but they also have consecutive serial numbers. From a collector's point of view it would therefore not be expedient to separate them, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer them to you here as a pair (with consecutive serial numbers). ... and for true checkerboard aficionados we also have the right Les Paul!
