The first dry playthrough immediately elicits an “aha” moment: this Tele with an absolutely dream weight of only 2998 grams resonates almost like an acoustic guitar. Rarely have we heard a Tele that resonates so beautifully when played dry. What a resonance response — Greg Fessler really put a lot of effort into selecting the woods. The neck is a little thicker, but by no means too fat. With its modern 12“ fretboard radius, ”1951 U“ profile and ”Medium Vintage“ frets it plays like a dream. The pickups are ”Handwound 50-51 Blackguards." Sonically it's pure classic Tele! It's hard to say whether the above-average sound is due to the pickups or the woods, ...probably a successful combination of both. The two pickups are the result of meticulous analysis of original pickups by the Fender Custom Shop and are based on traditional specifications, authentic materials and handwinding carried out in the Custom Shop. They guarantee crisp basses, rich mids and crisp, twangy highs. ...and the fact that the classic “Butterscotch Blonde” finish has been given the ultimate refinement in the form of a wonderfully Heavy Relic finish that is anything but subtle rounds off this attractive package perfectly.
