But the way this shooting star of the Fender Custom Shop has interpreted “Lake Placid Blue” on this '63 Tele is in a league of its own. Not only do the countless cracks, quirks and paint chips on the back look simply sensational, but we've never seen such a subtle color gradient into a greenish-yellowed hue before. Wow! What's more, the guitar feels just as good as it looks. The neck has a somewhat stronger “60s Style Oval C” profile with a 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, striking the perfect balance between vintage feel and modern playability. Already very snappy and direct when played dry the two “Handwound 63 Tele” singlecoils provide a twangy, punchy sound that is perfect not only for Country, but also for Funk and Blues Rock. So if you want a Tele that not only looks good but also has plenty of character in terms of sound, you can't go wrong with this van Trigt.
