Gibson EDS-1275 Don Felder "Hotel California" Doubleneck Aged (2010)

On December 8, 1976 the Eagles released the album "Hotel California," which remains one of the most successful albums in Rock history. The title track was composed by Eagles members Don Felder, Glenn Fry and Don Henley, and for the iconic intro Don Felder needed an electric 12-string guitar, which he adorned with a capo at the seventh fret. Since Felder also had to play a significant number of lead parts on the track he conveniently used a Gibson SG double-neck. ...and so we are delighted to offer you today the exact replica of this double-neck. Only 110 specimens of the original guitars were produced between 1962 and 1968, and this exclusive rarity extends to the replica with only 100 specimens of this aged version being built in the Gibson Custom Shop. Of course these are long since sold out and an aged Don Felder double-neck is extremely rare even on the used market. The guitar boasts all the classic features of this musical era, including four superb Gibson PAF-style humbuckers on a massively resonant, solid mahogany body. It also features custom wiring and of course all the individual modifications Felder made to his own EDS-1275 to optimize it for his live performances. As always with special signature instruments, the Custom Shop meticulously replicated the look of Felder's double-neck. And sonically you get the best of both worlds: the natural, mellow tone of a 12-string neck and the crunchy, fat power chords and solos of a six-string Rock 'n' Roll beast! Normally with such a magnificent instrument, the collector's value and rarity are paramount, but the previous owner had no intention of putting this soundmighty guitar in a display case. This double-neck has been played extensively and has also seen live performances. As a result it has developed a wonderful resonance, but of course it also shows some signs of wear (especially a few belt buckle scratches on the back). It's no surprise that also the case, with its considerable wear and tear, could tell a story or two as well. Otherwise, this is an instrument in top condition: the frets are in excellent condition and the guitar has been freshly set up and restrung. Simply a superb player's guitar with high rarity value and a rich tonal palette, which playing and wear marks we have,m of course, factored into the price.
