Gibson ES-175 Figured Vintage Sunburst (2009)

The Gibson ES-175 may not be the largest archtop in the Gibson range, nor is it the most luxurious. Nevertheless, it has been in continuous production since the late 1940s and it is probably its simple design and uncomplicated construction that guarantee the great success of this semi-hollow guitar. It first appeared in 1949 with a single P-90 and it wasn't until early 1957 that it was fitted with the newly developed, state-of-the-art humbuckers. The ES-175 in “Vintage Sunburst” presented here is of course equipped with two humbuckers and impresses with a slightly stronger “Rounded C” neck profile that fits comfortably in the hand. Of course he laminated body has “adult” dimensions, but the guitar is intuitive and comfortable to play with playability on par with modern instruments thanks to perfectly dressed frets. Visually this classic among Jazz guitars in the “Figured Maple” finish with the attractive “Vintage Sunburst” lacquer and a deep dark rosewood fingerboard with traditional split parallelogram inlays is impressive across the board. In addition to the full resonance construction the “57 Classic” humbuckers provide a beautiful, differentiated and airy sound with a warm, woody character, ensuring a classic Jazz sound.
