Gibson ES-335 62 JD Simo Collectors Choice CC #42 (2016)

The CC #42 “JD Simo” is known to be the rarest Collectors Choice guitar and was also manufactured in the legendary Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville. There are only 25 of these exclusive semi-hollow guitars in the world. Of course they sold out immediately and no CC #42 has appeared on the second-hand market for years. Of course this results in phenomenal collector's value with the very best value retention. The CC #42 is an exact replica of the 1962 ES-335 owned by American guitarist JD Simo. Super authentic aging with lots of hairline cracks and the characteristic quirks that also distinguish the original guitar. The custom neck profile is somewhere between a '59 and '60 neck, so by no means too thick, but definitely not a “Slim Taper” neck either. Plays excellently and is exceptionally comfortable. The “Gibson Customwound” Custombuckers, specially wound for this guitar, transfer the outstanding dry sound perfectly to the amp. Beautiful warm yet percussive sound on the neck with a great tone. Extremely direct at the bridge with enormous punch. Open, resonant sound without muddiness or murkiness, enveloped in the unmistakable airiness of a semi-acoustic. This special gem is the first choice for both players and collectors. Especially since the previous owner took the liberty of playing the soundmighty ES. As a result the guitar is wonderfully swung in and has developed its full sound. On the other hand there are of course a few slight signs of wear and tear, which we have taken into account in the price. The look of this “JD Simo” also has a very special charm as the original red tone of the aged finish has faded a little over the years, bringing it even closer to the appearance of the original.
