Gibson ES-335 Memphis Fat Neck (2010)

Today we are pleased to offer you a very special highlight from the Gibson Custom Shop in Memphis - exceptional in every respect and modeled exactly on the series of just 521 specimens that were produced in Gibson's original factory in Kalamazoo in 1959. The ES-335 Fat Neck was made for players who prefer a larger, heavier neck with a rounded profile - whether because of their playing technique, larger hands, the enormous resonance characteristics or simply because of the authentic vintage look and feel. All-round convincing tonal qualities: warm, darker, mellow and round tones that are perfect for Jazz or Blues and are charged with the sustain and exclusive basic characteristics of the semi-hollowbody design. The two “57 Classic” pickups are convincing across the board on the amp: super differentiated on the neck without mud and mulch, beautifully bell-like with the very slight Strat character familiar from old PAFs. At the bridge this ES smacks really nicely with a super response and reacts to every single nuance of attack. Based on the real, old 59s, this fat-neck not only has the correct, stronger '59 neck made of one-piece mahogany, but also the slightly smaller body of the originals and the light, vintage-correct maple center block construction. The “Antique Vintage Sunburst” finish is also based on classic models and the characteristic pearloid dot inlays as well as the single-layer, cream-colored binding along the neck, top and back round off the beautiful overall picture. Apart from minimal signs of use this attractive resonance monster comes to its future owner, whom we would like to congratulate on this visual, tactile and tonal gem, in top condition.
