Gibson Les Paul Custom '59 Mahagony (2023)

In 1959 and 1960 Gibson produced two small series of cherry-colored Les Paul Customs. Based on these GuitarPoint in Frankfurt had a few special editions produced by the Gibson Custom Shop in 2023. The result was a truly unique model with extremely cool features: as a '59 model this Custom of course has also the super comfortable '59 Medium neck profile, which in combination with an almost unbelievable dream weight of just 3650(!) grams guarantees the very best playing comfort. The hardware is made of nickel and the mother-of-pearl inlays are trapezoidal, which results in a nice mix of Standard and Custom features. On a funny side note Gibson didn't allow the Paula to be given a '59 serial number, so while it is labeled “'59 Les Paul Custom Mahogany Full Cherry Aniline Dye” in the official Gibson records, it is still classified as a '57 Custom. ...and what a fantastic look this beauty offers! The combination of a full mahogany construction with the wonderfully yellowed binding and the aged hardware really makes your mouth water. But when you hear the sound of this Les Paul, you know that you are dealing with a definite “must have”. Beautifully balanced with sufficient punch, the Custom is superbly differentiated with a fast response and a great frequency spectrum. Smacking sound with tight basses, just the right highs and above all a phenomenally beautiful mid-range sound, that is so characteristic of solid mahogany guitars.
