We are delighted to offer you a super exclusive guitar that caused quite a stir last year: a limited edition replica of the 1958 Les Paul Custom that Eric Clapton bought during Cream's first American tour with only 150 specimens produced. He used this “Black Beauty” with 3 pickups and serial number 8 6320 on the album “Disraeli Gears” as well as on several tours in the 60s and 70s. In 1979 he gave the guitar to his legendary guitarist Albert Lee, who is still inspired by it and still uses it today. In producing this limited series the Gibson Custom Shop used 3D scanning technology and ultra-precise aging techniques from the Murphy Lab to handcraft an exact clone of the legendary original. Every tiny detail has been meticulously recreated, from the characteristic wear marks to the special sound character. This Black Beauty features a hand-selected, one-piece mahogany body, a mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard and block inlays made of mother-of-pearl, 22 Medium Jumbo frets and the same neck profile as the original guitar. ...and this neck plays superbly, especially in combination with a dream weight of only 3810 grams. You really have to let that weight sink in: a Les Paul Custom weighing around 3.8 kg... wow! In terms of sound, this is a wonderfully resonant instrument which formidable basic character is conveyed to the amp in the very best way by the three unpotted Custombuckers. The screws on the middle pickup are mounted towards the neck, just like on the original guitar. Classic Rock sounds at their best! This Paula really smacks nicely and has a great response. Super tone and endless sustain! But that's not all! The fantastic overall package is perfectly rounded off by the included case candies. The guitar comes in a custom-made case inspired by the “Duck Brothers” and with a second pickguard in a wooden display signed by both Eric Clapton and Albert Lee. Also included is a COA booklet with a photo of the artist taken by Chuck Stewart and a black leather strap from the “Archive Series.” Top-of-the-line player or collector's item?
