Gibson Les Paul Junior "Inspired by John Lennon" Prototype (2007)

John Lennon - the musician, the songwriter, the legend! John is certainly associated with numerous guitars that he played during his career. But one of the most fascinating is probably his Les Paul Junior, which he had modified in reference to one of his favorite Jazz musicians, Charlie Christian. As a tribute to the former Beatle 300 replicas of the guitar were made by the Gibson Custom Shop in 2007, which are now almost impossible to find on the second-hand market. We are therefore all the more pleased to be able to offer you a particularly exclusive forerunner of this series production, namely the Prototype 4, which as the last prototype and “run reference” is the direct model for the final series production. It embodies the spirit and character of John Lennon in every play or usage trace, which was applied by Tom Murphy himself as part of an extensive and detailed aging process. Every little quirk, scratch, color variation and even various cigarette burns were taken into account. Lennon mainly played this guitar in the post-Beatles era and in the early 70s had Ron DeMarino, a luthier from New York, install a Charlie Christian pickup, which in combination with the original “P90 Dog Ear” opened up an almost endless wealth of sound that he performed on albums such as “Mind Games” or “Walls and Bridges”. As the playability of this modified Les Paul Junior is also extremely comfortable thanks to the medium neck profile, you won't want to put down this perfect combination of the best playing characteristics and the most multifaceted top sound. The guitar comes to its future owner in collector's condition.
