Gibson Les Paul SG 61 Standard 60th Anniversary Sideways Vibrola VOS (2021)

It's hard to believe, but the Gibson SG has already celebrated its 60th anniversary. Yet it looks as good as ever. The first version of this legendary model hit the market in 1961 and initially bore the name Les Paul on the headstock. It is precisely this instrument that was honored in 2021 as part of the Gibson Custom Shop's 60th Anniversary series and reissued once again. And what can we say: the guys from Nashville have outdone themselves once again! The guitar feels great in your hands, because the neck doesn't have the ultra-thin Slim Taper profile of many later versions. It's a little more grippy, but still slinky and more like a comfortable '59 Medium profile. And the sound of the Custombuckers is awesome! As you'd expect from an SG, its sound is a little leaner and more present than a Les Paul. Clean, you get plenty of transparency and no muddiness. Distorted, the party really gets started: distorted riffs blow you away with such bite and attack that you won't want to stop running your fingers over the attractive rosewood fretboard. Nevertheless, you always have enough warmth to fire off singing lead sounds. The guitar never sounds shrill or too thin, but simply perfectly balanced. Even though this SG is an anniversary model that will of course make every collector's heart beat faster, we strongly recommend that you purchase this instrument, which is also equipped with a historically accurate and smooth-running sideways vibrola, as a player guitar. Simply a really cool piece that comes with the traditional Cherry, VOS finish and in top condition, soundmighty and with the best playing characteristics.
