Unfortunately the previous owner lost the COA and the aged Gibson Lifton case pictured is not the original and has slight discoloration on the inside. Otherwise this Les Paul with all its True Historic specs such as select woods, hide glue, super-thin nitrocellulose lacquer etc., will make you feel like you've been transported back to the golden age of guitar making. As soon as you open the case for the first time you can't help but smile, because Tom Murphy has done an excellent job with the aging: the body and headstock are covered with a myriad of fine hairline cracks and tastefully placed dents and dings round off the overall picture. And it's simply incredible how authentically Tom Murphy has captured the golden tone here, so much so that at first you're really convinced you're looking at a genuine old '57. When you pick it up, the first thing you notice is the perfect neck, which '57 Chunky C profile, combined with the dream weight of this guitar of only 3820 grams, makes it super comfortable to play. It is by no means too fat, but with just the right amount of swing mass it gives the guitar an extraordinary richness, even when played dry, which is paired here with direct response. The same impression is made on the amp: the Custombuckers sound crisp and present in their response, but also deliver plenty of warmth and creaminess for singing lead sounds.
