In 2015 Gibson honored legendary Rock guitarist Ronnie Montrose with the Collector's Choice #28 STP Burst, a limited edition replica of his 1958 Les Paul, of which only 300 were made. The exceptional guitarist had used this guitar on his last tour with Edgar Winter and on the first two Montrose albums (Montrose and Paper Money). He himself called his Paula “STP” because years before he bought it, an STP sticker had been affixed to it and after it was removed only a red silhouette remained on the faded “Cherry Sunburst” finish. The CC#28 was developed by Gibson in collaboration with the owner and German studio musician Peter Weihe, based on a comprehensive analysis of the original guitar, and every tiny detail of the original has been meticulously reproduced. The first thing you notice about this Montrose Burst is its incredibly beautiful top with exceptional grain and killer aging. And like all CC#28s we've dealt with so far, it's also a top-notch player with its dream weight of only 3860 grams, unvarnished neck back and extremely comfortable '58 medium neck profile. It fits perfectly in your hand and is extremely comfortable to play. And the sound of this Les Paul is the first choice for fans of classic Rock sounds! The sound is very open, airy and bell-like with a superb attack, great tone and always very differentiated. Even in the upper registers this guitar produces singing lead sounds with fantastic sustain. Of course the Montrose Bursts have long been sold out and are hardly available on the second-hand market. So we are particularly pleased to be able to offer you this gem in top condition.
