Gibson Les Paul 58 Mark Knopfler VOS (2016)

Mark Knopfler from Dire Straits has shaped the music of the 80s and 90s like no other guitarist with his unmistakable sound. His crystal-clear and sparkling playing on a Stratocaster, which everyone immediately associates with hits like “Sultans of Swing”, is unique. In his search for a completely different sound he found a wonderful Gibson Les Paul Standard from 1958, which produced the powerful Les Paul sound that we all know from the album “Brothers in Arms”. In 2016 the Gibson Custom Shop meticulously measured this exact guitar and created a replica of his Burst that has been worked out down to the last detail. Today we have the pleasure of offering you a particularly beautiful specimen from the VOS edition, limited to 150 pieces, which features a phenomenally grained top and a fabulous color gradient. And the VOS finish gives the guitar just the right vintage patina! As expected the neck here is somewhat stronger, but by no means as fat as on some other '58 Les Pauls. It plays extremely comfortably, especially in combination with the unbelievable weight of just 3420 grams. And as always when we get our hands on a Knopfler Paula, this one also impresses with its fantastic sound qualities. An absolute power even when played clean! Extremely round and balanced with pleasant warmth and always beautifully pearly and differentiated. But also distorted, bluesy, simply a top sound! Lots of character and you can really work with the touch dynamics. Also 100% convincing with the lead sounds! Singing tone with an enormous amount of expression. So we are delighted to be able to offer you this special icon of music history in absolute collector's condition.
