For Wilcutt Guitars in Lexington, Kentucky, a strictly limited special edition of just a few 60th Anniversary Pauls was produced by the Gibson Custom Shop in the 2020 model year. In addition to the incredible attention to detail of these models, including laser-cut vintage dimensions, original-oriented plastics and sunburst finishes, these highly rare Les Pauls were also painted and aged by Tom Murphy himself, as evidenced by his initials in the electronics compartment and in the lacquer below the potentiometer knobs. It is well known that such a special Gibson from the Custom Shop is very rare to find since the opening of the Murphy Lab and is therefore extremely sought after, which of course guarantees the very best value retention. We are therefore delighted to be able to offer you another of these rare specimens in absolute top condition. The sound of the unpotted Custombuckers (Alnico-III) used here is immediately reminiscent of old PAFs, wonderfully airy, transparent with the characteristic mids and highs of these old pickups. Whether Jazz, Blues or Hardrock, ...every style of music can be served here in the best possible way! Beautifully fat, assertive and differentiated with an extremely dynamic tone that is convincing clean as well as distorted and with singing lead sounds right down the line. In addition, this Wilcutt offers truly outstanding playability with its "Authentic '59 Medium C" neck profile and a dream weight of just 3790 grams. And as expected its top painted by Tom Murphy fascinates with its beautiful color gradient, phenomenal grain and perfect bookmatching, which he has also refined with his characteristic, extremely authentic aging with countless hairline cracks, larger and smaller quirks and lacquer-free areas. Such a perfect overall package should not be missed!
