Gibson Les Paul 59 Reissue "Burst Brothers" #1 (2009)

As the world's leading authority on vintage instruments, particularly Gibson Les Pauls, Drew Berlin acts as an appraiser, authenticator, curator and sales broker for a discerning clientele that includes some of the most recognizable names in music. He also personally curates prominent collections. A longtime guitarist, vocalist and producer in various bands Berlin spent decades as Little Richards' touring guitarist and musical director from 1969 until the end of Richards' career. Since his teenage years and during his time with Little Richard Berlin began collecting vintage guitars. In 2008 he was persuaded by his friends, the so-called “Burst Brothers” from Guitar Center, and the Gibson Custom Shop to put together a small series of just 33 reissues of a '59 Burst. He accepted the challenge, brought a really good, original '59 to Nashville and explained that his main concern was that the planned replicas had to feel like a real '59 through and through. He wanted to be able to pick up the guitar blindfolded and not be able to tell, if it was a replica or an original '59 Burst. Furthermore, he wanted a beautiful grain, but by no means too exaggerated or perfect, just like the originals. ...and that is exactly what has been achieved here to perfection! This Les Paul “Burst Brothers” with serial number 1 is the absolute top league in terms of sound: beautifully open, dry, woody, resonant and it simply smacks and sings beautifully. The specially wound “Burst Brothers” humbuckers conjure up a great sound, warm, bluesy and transparent as required, but also wonderfully snappy with distortion. You can work excellently with the tone here and this Les Paul feels at home in any style of music. Of course visually this Les Paul corresponds exactly to Drew's ideas: attractive color and a great grain, which in combination exude the vibe of a real old guitar. The fact that the '59 Medium neck profile also sits really well in the hand and that this guitar offers the very best playing characteristics can only be considered a positive side note with this phenomenal overall package, which comes to its future owner in top condition...
