Here we have reached one of the absolute highlights in the collaboration between Jörg Hermann and Tom Murphy: “The Burst”! An exclusive Les Paul, selected for its light weight, painted by Tom Murphy himself (as the initials “TM” in the control compartment impressively prove) and of course with exclusive MHH specs. A beautiful AAAA top with phenomenal grain, which is really brought out by Tom's special “Enhance Murphy's Tea Time Burst” finish and refined by Murphy Labs' ultra-heavy aging process. This guitar is a visual work of art that can enchant you from every angle and perspective and the black stinger on the back of the headstock further emphasizes its exclusive look. But the sound also leaves nothing to be desired. Already super resonant and vibrant when played dry, the Paula shows off its full sonic power when plugged into an amp. The two unpotted Murphy Spec Custombuckers (lightly underwound on the neck) deliver a wonderfully harmonious and balanced combination of growling bass, wiry mids, and sparkling highs. Absolutely top-notch sound, warm, bluesy, and transparent as needed, with distortion but also perfectly smacking and punchy. You can work with the tone excellently here, with the fattest Rock riffs at the bridge and singing leads at the neck as if you were in the most beautiful Blues heaven! And also the playability of the “Burst” is first-class with a dream weight of only 3710 grams and the comfortable “Authentic Fine Carved 1959 Rounded” neck profile.
