This latest SG addition from the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville takes the aesthetics of the legendary Les Paul Custom and applies them to the SG design. The result is an instrument that sounds powerful, plays well and looks classy. The classic look with a deep black gloss finish and gold-colored hardware speaks for itself. Combine that with a solid ebony fingerboard and the legendary 490R and 498T humbuckers and you've got a musical dream come true. These humbuckers offer a truly wide range of sound possibilities, from clean Jazz to the heaviest distortion sounds. Even when played dry, the typical mid-range SG sound character is noticeable, which is transported to the amp in the best possible way. Add to that killer sustain and as the distortion increases the evil side of this guitar comes to the fore. You can only get such a focused Rock sound from an SG! The fact that this black gem is also really comfortable to play thanks to the “1960 Slim Taper” neck profile and an expectedly fabulous weight of only 3214 grams rounds off this great overall package perfectly.
