The fascination and legend of the Gibson Southern Jumbo lives on in the 1942 Banner, which proudly bears the words “Only a Gibson is Good Enough” on the headstock. Based on the original the luthiers in Montana meticulously crafted an acoustic guitar that closely resembles its original predecessor in terms of structure and components. A thermally aged Adirondack red spruce top was used, which was historically correctly finished by hand with ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer, as well as a back and sides made of attractively grained rosewood. Matching this is the fantastically grained rosewood fingerboard. In close collaboration between the University of America and Gibson a process was developed, in which the top is artificially aged in a complex process by shaping the cell structure through temperature and pressure to make it look as if the instrument came from the golden vintage years. Furthermore, the focus was on optimal playability with the fretboard edges perfectly rounded for even better feel and the string action optimized using the patented Gibson PLEK process. The fretboard and bridge are treated with finishing oil, which maximizes the natural resonance of the woods. The neck has a comfortable C-shape that fits perfectly in your hand and makes playing extremely comfortable. The sound is absolutely world class! It is ideal for both fingerpicking and strumming. Superbly balanced with a great tone and vibration response! Wonderfully present with a great frequency response, silky highs, and beautiful depth without becoming too bass-heavy. We are pleased to offer you this exclusive Southern Jumbo in mint condition. ...and as the banner on the headstock says: “Only a Gibson is Good Enough”!
