Martin 00-42SC John Mayer (2012)

It has rarely been so difficult for me to part with a guitar as it was with this Martin 00-42SC. This guitar was in my private collection for years and was my go-to acoustic in the studio for fingerpicking. The John Mayer Signature Model 00-42SC was created in close collaboration between the prestigious Martin guitar makers in Nazareth, PA, and the legendary guitarist. The finest woods, the best craftsmanship, and stunning looks make this model a treat for collectors and players alike. SC stands for “Stagecoach,” which harks back to the days when singers and songwriters took their guitars with them on trains, horses, and wagons so they would always be ready to play. The 12-fret construction and smaller 00 body make this instrument ideal for composing and traveling. It's incredible how much volume this guitar has despite its smaller body. Perfect for fingerpicking and strumming! Very differentiated, dynamic response with a wide frequency response and great overtones. You won't want to put this guitar down. The guitar, which responds to the finest nuances of playing, plays fantastically with its smaller body and medium neck profile. It also captivates visually with its solid Sitka spruce top, solid cocobolo back and sides, elegant “Style 42 Snow Flake” inlays, and wonderful abalone inlays on the binding and rosette. Apart from a minimal scratch behind the bridge, which was professionally repaired and varnished at Munich Repair (there is nothing left to see and you can't capture it photographically), the acoustic is including the frets in top condition and guarantees the very best value retention due to its enormous rarity value alone.
