This acoustic guitar combines the beloved sound and comfortable feel of historical acoustic models with today's demands for practicality. The 1937 models still serve as cornerstones of guitar making and continue to set standards for acoustic guitar sounds. Based on these originals this 000-18 from Martin was crafted with a body made of solid premium-selection mahogany with all hide-glue joints, a thin Adirondack spruce top for perfect resonance and the authentic finish of the 1937 models. To meet modern expectations the guitar has been given an adjustable truss rod as its only modern update, allowing for individual adjustments according to personal preferences. The "Authentic 1937 Standard Taper" neck profile feels incredibly comfortable in the hand, making you want to strum across the deep, dark, solid ebony fretboard with pure joy. The 000-18's appearance is particularly stunning: classic Martin with beautiful "Brown Tortoise Pattern" binding, "Old Style 18 1937" abalone fretboard inlays and an attractive "Old Style 18 MultiStripe" rosette. The authentic vintage look is achieved primarily through the aged vintage gloss finish, which thanks to the use of vintage toner and a patented, authentic lacquer formula gives this guitar a wonderfully matte finish. "Stage 1 Aging" means that you'll certainly see the signs of age in the form of countless hairline cracks, but without any additional damage. But what always interests us most, of course, is the sound of this magnificent instrument. Due to its smaller body size compared to a dreadnought it's more responsive and very well-suited for fingerpicking. And here, it truly delivers! Although the guitar is wonderfully manageable it boasts a magnificent bass foundation. A great frequency spectrum and beautifully balanced. Voluminous, assertive with plenty of warmth, extremely articulate, present and with the warm, woody, and dry tone characteristic of mahogany, featuring punchy mids.
