This is a Martin 000-28 M Eric Clapton, which not only boasts a soundmighty, solid Carpathian spruce top, but above all back and sides made of beautifully figured Madagascan rosewood, which is now extremely rare and elevates this superb instrument to the highest acoustic spheres. It was produced in 2009 in a limited edition of only 461 guitars, a special limitation that exactly matches the production run of the very first Clapton model, a 000-42EC from 1995. This guitar continues to stand out with its phenomenal appearance, truly giving the impression of an old guitar: an exceptionally darkened body, binding and endpins with an authentic vintage shading and even the headstock finish conveys a warm vintage feel. The attractive look is rounded off by traditional herringbone inlays, Waverly tuners with butterbean knobs and a deep dark ebony fretboard with elegant "Diamonds and Squares" inlays. But this isn't just a visually unique instrument; the 000-28 also delivers a truly impressive sound. The guitar sounds as if it has been played for years, full and balanced. It demonstrates its strengths even when strumming, but it is especially highly recommended for fingerpicking. It offers a very direct response with a beautiful, woody tone and a superb frequency response. Of course you can also enjoy top-notch playing characteristics here, as the compact body sits wonderfully against the body and its "Modified V" neck profile makes it extremely comfortable to play. ...and as a special treat the acoustic was even personally signed by its namesake, Eric Clapton, inside the soundhole.
