We are delighted to be able to offer you today a D-28 Authentic Aged 1937 VTS from the Martin Custom Shop, which back and sides are made of beautiful and soundmighty Madagascar rosewood. Even today the models from 1937 serve as cornerstones of the art of guitar making and this acoustic definitely gives the player the sound and feel as if it had already matured for more than 80 years. The fine hairline cracks in the finish make the model sound even more open and airy, resulting in improved response, greater dynamics and more headroom. Further highlights are the construction with hide-glue, the woods treated with VTS (Vintage Tone System) and the hand-finished top and back bracing. The Martin Custom Shop has really done everything right here when it comes to aging! The instrument looks so deceptively similar to the originals that you can't tell with the naked eye whether it's an artificially aged instrument or a real old one. All style-defining details such as the shape of the neck, the neck foot and the type of lettering have been exactly reproduced from the originals! The other highlights include a thin Adirondack spruce top for perfect vibration behavior, the pleasant “Authentic 1937” neck profile, the deep dark fingerboard made of solid ebony with “1937 Diamonds & Squares” inlays, the characteristic “Bold Herringbone” binding of the pre-war era and above all of course the use of the beautiful Madagascar rosewood for the back and sides, which is hardly available today. Superb frequency spectrum, voluminous, balanced and warm D-28 sound!
