Martin D-28 RR Rich Robinson Signature Edition Aged (2023)

We are delighted to be able to offer you a specimen of Rich Robinson's hand-signed and consecutively numbered signature guitars. Even if you might think at first that a guitar like this would be of particular interest to fans of the Black Crowes, its immense value as a phenomenal instrument should by no means be underestimated. First of all this is probably the tonal dream of every guitarist and moreover, the first model that Martin has ever produced as a faithful replica of an original guitar in terms of appearance and sound, meticulously reproduced down to the last detail. Said original is a 1954 D-28 that was passed down from Robinson's father, who had previously played it on stage at the "Grand Ole Opry" in Nashville, TN, and as a traveling musician with the Hillbilly Highway and in his folk band "The Appalachians" in the '50s and '60s. After Rich received his father's guitar he used it primarily to compose most of the Black Crowes' original songs from their studio albums. This replica comes with back and sides made of aged, satin-finished East Indian rosewood and an aged spruce top with a very thin vintage gloss finish. It also features the so-called "Rearward Shifted Non-Scalloped Bracing", which offers a very balanced tone and additional volume. It has some vintage 1950s-style construction features such as Martin's signature dovetail neck joint, authentic hide glue construction, ebony fingerboard and bridge, as well as tagged nickel tuners (enclosed gear). In addition Robinson wanted a bridge which wings were slightly "softer" for greater comfort. The somewhat stronger "1954 Rich Robinson Barrel and Heel" neck profile also sits perfectly in the hand and is extremely comfortable to play. This acoustic is not just about bass and treble like some other dreads, the focus is more on the mid-range, well balanced, extremely present and resonant with a wonderfully long sustain. The Robinson signature is fantastic for playing big, open chords, its specialty however are pickings. As a special treat the fantastic overall package comes with a blue molded case from Martin and a specially designed label signed and sequentially numbered by Robinson.
