Wolfgang Niedecken, brilliant songwriter and founding member of the Cologne band BAP, is alongside Grönemeyer, Lindenberg and Müller-Westernhagen.arguably one of the most legendary German musicians of recent decades. It is therefore a wonderful tribute that Musikhaus Hermann and the Martin Custom Shop have joined forces to create an exclusive acoustic guitar, limited to just 20 units, crafted precisely according to Wolfgang's wishes and specifications. And it is above all the inner qualities that count here; the playing feel and the sound are the true greatness of this guitar, although the visual appeal of the classic 1935 Sunburst finish, the traditional herringbone inlays and the beautiful fretboard inlays in the form of Faith, Love, Hope and ॐ are also captivating. This syllable from the Sanskrit Devanāgarī alphabet is said to represent the Cologne dialect expression "Höösch," meaning peace and quiet. The "Scalloped 5/16" Forward Shifted Bracing" (i.e., the top bracing) ensures perfect balance and nuance across the entire tonal spectrum, resulting in a dream of a sound with direct and balanced bass, smooth mids and crystal-clear highs, as the top is allowed to vibrate even more freely. The flat "Modified Low Oval" neck profile with a nut width of 4.44 cm is already familiar from many Martin models, and Niedecken also appreciates this profile because the neck is more comfortable to play – almost like an electric guitar. The special wood combination of spruce and rosewood (certainly in solid construction) testifies to the unique character of this instrument, which is enormously powerful and always assertive, yet still offers ample room for the reproduction of subtle articulations. Furthermore, an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup is available for stage use, adjustable via volume and tone controls on the soundhole rim. This piezo pickup combines studio electronics with L.R. Baggs' patented Element pickup for a clean and crisp stage sound. A flexible sensor, which mirrors the actual movement of the soundboard, captures the guitar's most subtle nuances resulting in a detailed tone.
