There's not much more to say about masterbuilder Gerhard Schwarz from Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria. He is definitely one of Germany's up-and-coming guitar builders and produces phenomenal guitars with great attention to detail and a sound power that is rarely encountered. This Cardinal Summit is no exception, even if the body design is based on an old acquaintance, the Gibson ES-335. As the “summit” of guitar making it is not only made from the very best woods such as Honduran mahogany and “Eastern Hardmaple”, but also has a fingerboard made from Brazilian rosewood (of course with the necessary CITES certification) as an optional extra. A feature that not only gives a guitar a very special aura, but also adds a very characteristic note to the sound. But the fact that the sound of this Cardinal is not only extraordinarily mature and cultivated is certainly due not only to the tonewoods described but also to the first-class pickups from Andreas Kloppmann. "HB 59" humbuckers are used here, which are wonderfully fat and smacky, but with a significant portion of tonal "airiness" in the sound, which can completely enchant not only with clean chords, but also with distorted Blues riffs. The rather strong neck profile of the late 50s with a nut width of 43.3 mm lies perfectly in the hand and in combination with optimally dressed "Ferdinand Wagner 9662" frets ensures excellent playing characteristics. ...and now we come to the incredible appearance of this semi-hollow! As if the "Pelham Blue" finish wasn't enough to make you gasp, Gerhard Schwarz has also applied a super authentic aging that reveals itself in a multitude of lacquer cracks, strategically placed dings and dongs and a varying color gradient. What a great vintage patina! We are therefore extremely pleased to be able to offer you this "summit" of the art of guitar making in top condition.
