Tyler Mongoose Special Black Finish (2011)
Tyler Mongoose Special Black Finish (2011)
James Tyler began making custom guitars and repairs in the early 1970s. His reputation spread by word of mouth until the late 1980s and early 1990s, when many of the best session musicians and artists on the Los Angeles studio scene trusted him to deliver exactly what they needed. This experience and knowledge are also reflected in this super rare Tyler Mongoose Special. Chambered lightweight mahogany body for optimal resonance and sound development. Beefy Standard 59 neck with perfectly dressed jumbo frets, Indian rosewood fingerboard, and abalone dots. The 9.5“-12” compound radius provides an optimal, modern feel and allows for endless bendings in the upper registers. The Studebaker humbucker at the bridge sounds literally “fat” with lots of overtones and a wide frequency spectrum. And the retro humbucker at the neck is pure blues. The guitar is in almost mint condition with no play marks on the frets.
