Here we have one of the rarest guitars from the Gibson Murphy Lab, which is currently not available anymore: a 1956 Goldtop in Ultra Heavy Aged! 1956 was the only full year in which the Les Paul featured the P-90 pickups and an adjustable ABR-1 bridge setup, a combination that took the Les Paul to new heights in intonation and sustain. This Gibson '56 Reissue not only captures the feel and resonant, penetrating sound of an original 1956 Les Paul Goldtop with P-90 pickups down to the smallest detail, but rather the skilled craftsmen at the Murphy Lab have created here a look with their ultra-heavy aging process that only a guitar can have that has been hotly loved and played unconditionally for the past 66 years. Small and minute hairline cracks running across the finish, heavily aged hardware and extreme wear in the significant areas simulate decades of wear and tear, giving the guitar the unique character, vibe, and feel of an original from Gibson's Golden Era.
